Geoff is noted as Scotland\u2019s first black Professor, and a major figure in Scottish education and anti-racism campaigning.<\/h4>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8c32f0b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8c32f0b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p class=\"eistxt\">Professor Palmer was introduced by EIS Equality Committee Convenor, Nicola Fisher, who also chaired the Q&amp;A session following the lecture.<\/p><p class=\"eistxt\">Professor Palmer\u2019s lecture, titled \u2018Learning from the Past; Looking to the Future\u2019, examined the connections between Scotland\u2019s wealth and the Atlantic slave trade. Further, Professor Palmer used the opportunity to consider the vital place black communities hold in Scotland\u2019s history and present, and how we should understand modern Scottish society in light
